We are the largest private tax payer in Western Equitoria State, which has seen devastating insurgent activity over the past two decades. With trees 12+ years from maturity, we are trialling a variety of other crops with our network of smallholder farmers and investigating prospects for harvesting naturally-occurring tropical hardwoods..

In 2020 we started Evergreen Herbs Limited, a leading grower and exporter of fresh, cut herbs from East Africa. We specialise in providing a broad range of high-quality herbs, throughout the year from our 50 hectare farm in Athi River, near Nairobi.

Rungwe Avocados, subsidiary of leading Tanzanian plantation company TATEPA, is the second largest producers of avocados in Tanzania. We have an extensive network of outgrower farmers, whom we support with training, extension services and links to the premium-priced export market.
Wakulima Tea Company
70% ownership
Wakulima is the tea business of leading Tanzanian plantation company TATEPA, Tanzania’s third largest tea producer in Tanzania and Maris’ biggest employer with 1000 employees. We operate a 308ha plantation but source the majority of our tea from a network of over 12,000 outgrower smallholder farmers, who own 30% of the business and are also provided with extensive technical, financial and community support.
